Happy christmas & snow

Tue Dec 22, 2009, 6:20 AM
For the first time since I can remember we've had some real snowfall in Holland! Not so great when it comes to public transport, but I just can't help loving snow :D It's not sure if we'll have a white christmas this year, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed :)

I've also decided to make my own christmas cards this year, so I made a drawing of a Friesian in the snow. Not my best decision, that's for sure. If there's something I find difficult it's drawing black horses and snow, and I've never drawn a fir tree in my life :o And since I could print it on A6 size I didn't really spend much time on any details.. So when I saw it on my computer screen I found the result to be.. well.. horrible :XD: It still looks okay on A6 size, but I'm not brave enough to put it on dA
I have made a few pictures near my home town though, so you guys can see when Holland looks like when it's a real winter. Unless you live in Holland, cause then you've already seen it ;)

So in case I don't get the chance to update my journal before friday, I'd like to wish you guys a very happy christmas!! :tighthug: I hope you're having as much fun as I am preparing for christmas. It might be stressful, but don't forget the fun part of it, cause that's what it's all about :meow:

I hope you're having a wonderful day!! :rose:

Busy birthday :o

Wed Nov 25, 2009, 1:57 PM
I was looking through some drawings here on DA yesterday, and it actually shocked me that so little people give credit when they used someone's photos as a reference :o I mean, personally I'm terrible at drawing without reference, and I am so grateful for stock photographers and other wonderful photographers who allow people to use their work as a reference. I just make sure I give credit any time I use someone else's photo as a reference picture. So I really don't get why some people don't just take the effort to write down that little line in the description, saying where they got the reference from  It really annoyed me, especially cause I found an art thief as well.. so I just felt like ranting for a little while, sorry :aww:

Anyway, enough of that ;) On a more cheerful note: It's my birthday today!! Gosh, I'm beginning to feel old.. I do love birthdays though, not because of the presents (which are always nice to get, of course ) but because it's just one of those days where I realise just how wonderful my friends, roommates and family really are. I truly feel lucky to have so many wonderful people in my life :D I've never had so much to do on my birthday before :faint: I had classes the whole day, and I have a presentation to prepare before tomorrow, so I didn't have that much time to celebrate with friends and family. So we'll be doing that this weekend :D

I'm also working on a new drawing, which is taking a bit longer than I expected.. But I know I'll be able to finish it sometime soon :w00t:

I hope all of you guys are having a wonderful day!! :rose:

Autumn :)

Wed Oct 7, 2009, 12:26 PM
It's autumn again! :D And that means walking in the woods, collecting leaves and chestnuts, halloween, and autumn break as well!
Well, we don't actually have autumn break in vet school, but I did manage to find a few days in which I can go on vacation :excited: So I'll be leaving for Germany tomorrow, and be away for about a week, in the place I love the most :D I've been studying so hard the last few weeks, I'm really glad to have a few days off. It will mean I can't be on DA until next week though, so it'll take a bit longer to answer messages and such :aww:

I hope all of you guys are having a wonderful day! :huggle: :rose:

Back from vacation :)

I came back from my vacation in Sweden and Norway a few days ago, and I’m still exhausted :XD: We have been driving all over Scandinavia it seems, and on the way back from Denmark it took us 13 hours to get home.. But driving a lot also has a lot of advantages :D We’ve seen a lot of amazing fjords and fells, and also lots of beautiful lakes and mountains. I’m sure going to miss the gorgeous nature of the north, but I’m also certain that I’ll go there again really soon :D
This year was actually the first time that we had 3+ days of rain in Scandinavia, but you know, I’ve always been more of a dancing-in-the-rain kind of girl (which I did only a few times.. I mean, I don’t tend to do that a lot in public :XD:) rather than someone who keeps wishing for sun.. so I just made the best of it. I’ve had so much fun that I didn’t really care for any bad weather. After all, rain’s just nothing more than a free shower, isn’t it? ;P So I didn’t really mind that. Although I did dump a glass of soda on myself twice, within 5 minutes actually.. which wasn’t that much fun :o I mean, I dump stuff on the floor and on other people all the time, but I don’t usually dump that much stuff on myself. But anyway, considering that that was my least fun part of the vacation, you can imagine it was a pretty great holiday :D

So having travelled as much as we have, I didn’t really have that much time to draw anything :sniff: Not that I didn’t want to, but after all those hours of driving, on most days there just wasn’t time to draw. I got the chance to finish one drawing, which is more than I expected.. So as it is, you can imagine I just can’t wait to draw more in the next few weeks :)

I have made a few photos, and I’ll make sure to upload the ones I like best really soon :aww: Also, I’ve got quite a pile of messages and deviations waiting, so I’ll try and answer all those as quickly as I can ;P Apart from that I have 300+ deviations waiting to be viewed, I guess I really am watching too many people :faint: I really don’t think I’ll manage to get all that finished in one day, so that’ll just take a bit more time :giggle:

I hope all of you guys are having a lovely holiday! :rose:
